This is my german shepherd dog named Roxy. She is very vocal and uses her whining as a true form of communication. Nine times out of ten I can tell what she needs the first time she whines. I like to say I learn as much from her as she learns from me :)

Heres my 8 month old german shepherd puppy Sam. In this vid hes almost 9
months, he's really elongated and weighs about 35kg. He's the perfect
height for a german shepherd (should not exceed 65cm) and he's extremely
energetic and intelligent. Today we teach you how to train a dog of his

Dog Training Tutorial: Building Eye Contact & Attention
Teaching a dog to make eye contact is extremely useful with a variety of
applications. It is a good habit to encourage especially in puppies who
often have the tendency to be rambunctious, particularly in the
presence of delicious food/treats. Use this exercise to help build their
focus & attention while demonstrating that rewards in their
environment are unlocked through you. Ideally, we should always
establish eye contact before giving them any obedience cue.
This is an advanced dog trick for any dog that has some experience working with a positive, marker-based style of training. It has been made popular partly from being seen in a number of movies.
By breaking the trick up into manageable little parts, any dog can learn it so long as they are set up to be successful throughout the various stages highlighted in this video. However, I must say that that it requires an extensive amount of slow & patient training and can take some dogs weeks to master.
